I don't really understand step four because the hair always ends up in a mess when I use the water tool.

I love how in every tutorial the shadows magically appear, there's nothing about the theory behind where to place the shadows...

Okay, I'm a bit frustrated at hair at this point because I've looked up batches and batches of tutorials and still nothing. I've got nothing against your tutorial. :)

I'm getting there... excruciatingly slowly. Even my newest piece has terrible hair shading. I share your hair drawing pain.
